He just let her lay there, a small smile grows on his brims. He doesn't move his body, not right now โโ not in this moment.
He's right where he wants and needs to be.
" ... You're my daughter, April Parker.
I'll love you no matter what."
If I go to work tomorrow ...
... I'm gonna kill somebody.
A look of hurt forms on his face, as he let out a very (soft) sigh as he ran a hand through his locks.
"Look, I haven't been the best ... father."
Not even the best parent, or husband, or boyfriend, or even nephew. His life tends to be a mess like that.
" ... But I know when someone is upset โโ
He can only just stare at her in silent understanding โโ the silence between seems to last an eternity as he just ... sits with her.
It takes a long time before he speaks.
"Do you ... " He bit the inside of his cheek. He's never been good with words, more with actions. "Do you need a hug?"
โโ and certainly doesn't help to keep whatever what you're feeling buried deep inside of you."
He knows from personal experience.
" ... So, just -- let's talk, alright?"
A frown. Jeez, how long has he been gone?
" ... Is there anything you want to talk to me about, April?"
Kidding โโ !
( Kinda. )
... Y'alright โโ ?
"Oh. Cool."
He looked down at his shoes โโ lightly kicking a can away. She bit the inside of his cheek.
" ... Are you, uh, sure people will be okay with you doing that?
Don't people usually go ... y'know ... "
He finally shifted his gaze back to her once again, a chuckle finally escaping his brims. A low smile.
" ... Not once," Well. Maybe a couple of times. "But, uh, yeah -- glad you're going to be out a lot more this summer. That's nice."
