Also Gretzky post-prime
Tiger in his prime, Messi (twice) post-prime but still the best player in the world
There are few researchers for whom an entire field is so clearly distinct before and after their work. The gap between evolutionary biology "before Joe" and "after Joe" is just awesome. It is a measurably different enterprise, and the reach of his influence doesn't end at the phylogeny. Hats off!
"Something remarkable happened in April. For the first time in history, wind and solar generated more electricity than gas across the entire planet. Not in a country. Not in a region. Globally." Tons of great news here from Danny Kennedy (via @billmckibben.bsky.social's newsletter, which rules).

Well done Farshad on this project! I thought that if individuals can choose habitats based on their traits that it would prevent competition from forming range limits but I was wrong - it actually makes competitively-formed range limits SHARPER and Farshad can cogently explain why
Why do species' ranges stop where they do? New theory shows that matching habitat choice can sharpen range boundaries and reinforce limits imposed by competition academic.oup.com/evlett/advan... By Shirani and @benjaminfreeman.bsky.social

Polymorphisms are fun to study, here is a butterfly one. Negative freq.dependence works to maintain things but where does it come from? Temporal variation works but not always! @koraklein.bsky.social and @chriswheat.bsky.social looked into this in detail. royalsocietypublishing.org/rstb/article...
