The 3rd Symposium on Oceanography has successfully concluded, bringing together excellent speakers for a vibrant exchange of ideas in ocean science.

📌 New publication in Nature Geoscience by Amano et al., reveals that heterotrophic bacteria substantially contribute to oceanic dissolved inorganic carbon fixation via anaplerotic pathways, accounting for an estimated ~17% of dark DIC fixation and a significant global carbon flux.
The Microbial Oceanography Vienna and Marine Microbial Biogeochemistry groups are hosting the 3rd Mini Symposium on Oceanography on 7 May 2026.
