I think there's a huge amount of value in storied franchises taking deep breathes and long pauses. The Doctor Who revival was driven, in no small part, by old fans getting to introduce it to their kids. Dr. Who had a 15 year pause. Star Wars had 16 between Jedi and Phantom Menace.
