Good to see a set of questions on long-running biology experiments on #universitychallenge tonight.
๐ญ๐ The first lambs have arrived, and spot on time from consort sightings in November! Soon village bay will be full of skipping lambs and frantic field workers....๐โโ๏ธโโก๏ธ
Unsurprisingly I am very much in agreement with this article. I've put a lot of effort in recently to prevent the undermining of field-based teaching, including pointing out the invisible subsidy that field-based teaching (& research) provide other teaching & research

Hoping to extend it more after the winter holidays, as I'm just finishing up teaching the undergrad version of class.
I am loving the @evolletters.bsky.social cover by G. Moggioli. This issue has 3 articles about the Darwin-Bateman paradigm. Lehtonen & Parker doi.org/10.1093/evle... provide theory, w/ comments by @timjanicke.bsky.social doi.org/10.1093/evle... and Mokos et al. doi.org/10.1093/evle...
Fancy working with a massive amount of cool genomics, life history and TB-infection status data from a couple of thousand badgers? Here's the project for you then.
