He actually tried to get people to perceive him in that mold by like, trying to retcon himself as a founder at different companies, trying to pretend he was actually doing something instead of it just being a thing he bankrolled with apartheid money, etc
In a way I'm sort of glad it's him because he's such an obviously stupid and wretched person that he has effectively undone centuries of ruling class propaganda. If not for him it would have probably taken generations to convince a majority of folks that these guys are Bad, Actually™
and this would have absolutely worked if he had just kept to himself! If he maintained a low profile I bet we'd still have a majority of people thinking he was this visionary genius but he just couldn't fucking help himself and in a weird roundabout way I'm kind of thankful for that
I think a lot of the other billionaire types at least had some idea and were smart at some point (e.g. bezos, gates, zuck, etc) before just giving up because of the cognitive impairment that comes from decades of everyone catering to your every whim but this guy was always bad and stupid
He's effectively single handedly destroyed belief in meritocracy as a concept for a majority of people, and I also believe his antics have emboldened a bunch of other billionaires to be more open about their sociopathic nature which has further accelerated things
Now you might be reading this and thinking "ok but what about Trump couldn't you say the same thing about him" but I think at least in that case the guy obviously has some level of charisma and sway over people, he's a "genius" at that in the same way Hitler and Steve Jobs were (equally bad btw)
