APPG member Baroness Hayter has brought forward a Bill that tries to deal with something most of us already suspect: too much of how government is influenced happens out of sight π
Currently, only a small group of lobbyists appear on the register. The rest - from in-house corporate lobbyists to large organisations - can operate without the same level of disclosure. That means the public record shows only part of the picture of who's talking to government and on whose behalf.
We discussed everything from high street illegality and asset recovery to the growing use of cryptocurrencies by organised criminals. While progress is being made, the scale of the threat means more must be done.
