I didn't realize I was writing horror until I was told by readers... Apparently, growing up in high control religion as a closeted queer and neurodivergent woman makes for certain experiences that are not, in fact, universal, and are, in fact, scary. Oops... 😅

I asked a horror writer whose work I love how she’s able to write horror novels, because, while I love the genre, I can’t do it. I’ve written two horror SHORT stories (“On the Road” and “Dark Home”) and scared the hell out of myself. Her response was simple: “I don’t believe any of it.” Shit. 😬
