I was just reading an infographic that went through several wealthy, successful, well-liked celebrity men who have been accused of horrific abuse and bigotry. Not even the ones you're probably thinking of. Not only did they "get away with it," but they benefitted from these patterns of behavior.
There are tons of cultural spaces where abuse is just transparently glorified and rewarded, instrumental to gaining power and leadership: fraternities, many academic and artistic spaces, the military, and so on.

Course correction is only possible once you can see the trajectory for what it actually is. As long as people continue to claim that abuse isn't tolerated or that being abusive can't make someone well-liked/popular/successful, we can't actually change the fact that it is and it does.
If sexual abuse was really considered a terrible thing, the world's richest and most powerful people wouldn't be abusers. The most valued technology wouldn't produce sexual abuse on demand. And allegations of abuse wouldn't be framed as positive depictions of masculinity. Our culture rewards abuse.
