3. A blank page isn’t tyranny. A blank page is a gift. It’s your soul laid bare. It’s the whole universe inviting you to create. To create something no being, living or dead, has ever made before. With your mind, your experience and training, and your heart. It’s why we’re here.
1. Ian McDougall, General Counsel Lexis/Nexis to the Kentucky Bar Association, on Artificial Intelligence and the practice of law: “It has ended the tyranny of the blank page”.
4. AI does not know or understand anything it is producing for you. It is merely making a statistical connection and producing the next most likely thing. We should consider whether the “next most likely thing” is what we want now in our world, in our profession, and in our lives.
2. This is the problem, or, rather, one of many problems as we plunge into the waters of AI knowing full well the waters are rushing over a cliff onto the rocks of humanity itself below.
The Can Opener is the most obvious metaphor to a political artist since The Hindenburg. I tried to resist but was called to the infamous underpass as if it was one of Homer’s Sirens.
5. I believe the answer is we do not.
The White House is awash in blood and it’s coming from the Oval Office. The blood from innocents slaughtered in wars to distract us. The blood of immigrants. Blood poisoned, too, by the hate unleashed by the President and his people. And the blood from cages he built on our White House lawn.
