President Trump said on Saturday that he would nominate James McDonald to be the next U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, again choosing one of his personal lawyers for one of the nation’s most powerful legal positions.
James M. McDonald, a veteran former federal prosecutor and regulator, has more recently been part of President Trump’s legal team, appealing his criminal conviction.
