Statement from Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt:
Big 12 commish Brett Yormark statement: "We had a thoughtful and productive conversation with our ADs today as we continue to work through the broader implications of this situation. ... Until there is something to report, these conversations will remain within the conference."
was that Spike Lee in a Pope Leo Knicks jersey???
Statement from Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark re: the Brendan Sorsby ruling:
Texas Tech has a choice. No one is forcing the Red Raiders to play Brendan Sorsby. They are not backed into a corner. They can take his recovery seriously and support him by keeping him around/engaged with the program but NOT play him in games. It shouldn't be a tough call.
Texas Tech can and should do all the things it is doing to support Brendan Sorsby's recovery — but I don't see why he HAS to play football games. He can be in a structured environment, be at practice, & be around supportive teammates all without playing on Saturdays.
Athletes *know* they can't bet on their own team. It's to preserve competitive integrity — and it's why today's ruling left so many in CFB speechless. Actions should have consequences, and those consequences should not be voided by friendly judges. www.nbcsports.com/college-foot...

🎧 NEW Rushing The Field 🎧 Brendan Sorsby is eligible to play CFB this fall — after betting on his own team. Coaches and ADs are furious about it. @mrjoshuaperry.bsky.social and I are, too. What the Big 12/CFP/others can do about it and why this matters so much: open.spotify.com/episode/0bye...
Schools saying they will refuse to schedule Texas Tech is one thing. But the real question is whether the Big 12 steps in to stop the Red Raiders from playing Brendan Sorsby after a Texas judge overruled the NCAA: www.nbcsports.com/college-foot...
