🌿🌳Our new paper, led by the brillant @alyssakullberg.bsky.social, shows that trees acclimate to warming by preserving thermoregulation. Yet, with hot droughts, higher thermotolerance cannot compensate when hydraulic stress prevents leaf cooling. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/... @wslresearch.bsky.social
Even trees can get serious sunburn. A new study by a WSL-EPFL team shows how #heat and #drought affect #trees and how they sustain damage when the two are combined. This helps us understand how they will react to a changing climate: www.wsl.ch/en/news/when...
New Paper out in New Phytologist 🌸How does flower color affect heat stress? Darker flowers absorb more radiation but compensate by cooling more through transpiration and having higher thermal tolerance. nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... @wslresearch.bsky.social
🌱 New ReCLEAN publication 🙌 @wslresearch.bsky.social and EPFL colleagues show how drought and warming threaten nitrogen stability in grasslands, especially under intensive management. Thanks to @vallicrosah.bsky.social and @charlottegrossiord.bsky.social ! 🔬💡 ▶️ Publication here: lnkd.in/dByaM6nx

It turns out that drought and warming enhance the risk of nitrogen losses in intensively managed grasslands. Extensively managed ones, on the other hand, stay strong and stable! 😮‍💨Check our new publication rdcu.be/e88Cm @charlottegrossiord.bsky.social @pierremariotte.bsky.social
