If they're using the popups this isn't a game-specific thing. People will close popups reflexively without even realising they've done it. It's like alert fatigue, our brains tune them out due to overexposure. Devs don't realise despite doing the same thing in other people's software.

AAA game devs love saying shit like "all our players are ignorant cretins and if we don't jingle keys and wipe their asses they will throw one heck of a tantrum" which feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy to me
