This is one of my latest readings on "activist research" although the author prefers the broader umbrella term "citizen scholarship". Despite avoiding Burawoy's discussion on "public sociology" Cohen's tips and practice would very much align with (mostly, individual) critical and + @philipncohen.com

One of the most impressive initiatives of "activist research" I have seen lately: a survey organised by various tenant and labour unions together, run by 1,800 volunteers, 80% responded yes to a general strike. It was implemented in Catalonia on 6/6/2026. enscostalavida.org
