🔍 Key findings:
* Humanitarian visa policy has been applied selectively, with a high degree of discretion
* There is a clear gap between Brazil’s Law and practice
* Current approaches are shaped by a security-driven logic, including selectivity, austerity, and outsourcing of state responsibilities
This project was funded by ESRC/UKRI and developed in partnership between the University of Sheffield, the University of Southampton (UK) and the Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil), alongside its study group InterMob.
💡 Our recommendations include:
* Ensuring access to humanitarian visas and residence permits for people of all nationalities
* Strengthening the direct participation of migrants and refugees in policymaking
