The study found that our planet’s soils contain enough of the subterranean fungi that sustain plant life and help regulate the climate to stretch from the Earth to the sun almost three-quarters of a billion times.
Gen Z are expected to have smaller families, averaging 1.48 children, compared with 1.95 for women born in 1979. Fertility rates in England and Wales have fallen to 1.39, the lowest since records began in 1938. The main driver seems to be the cost of housing and greater financial strain.

Ms Uche is confused about the hostility - Northern Ireland would have shortages in its hospital and care homes were it not for migrants working throughout these sectors. Also the population of visible minorities in Northern Ireland is just 65,600 (14,400 of whom are from mixed background).

Well that's new, the BBC which hitherto gave you the option to sign-in or register on its website now gives the option to continue using a Google account. The BBC's strict impartiality, non commercial nature and data‑minimisation obligations had meant this option hadn't been rolled out earlier.

Subterranean fungi networks more than 100 quadrillion km in length, study finds

First ever global mapping of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi shows scale of hyphal systems that sustain plant life Our planet’s soils contain enough of the subterranean fungi that sustain plant life and help regulate the climate to stretch from the Earth to the sun almost three-quarters of a billion times, a groundbreaking new study has found. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are networks of tubular cells called hyphae that sustain life on Earth by forming critical partnerships with more than 70% of plants. The networks, which have been forming for about 475 million years, provide nutrients and water in exchange for the carbon produced by the plants, and help to regulate the climate by drawing carbon into soils.
