Pop crazed youngster, books, TV & film, cooking, hiking guy et al. Bitesized reviews of unheard Smash Hits reviewed albums mainly. On here more than the benighted single consonant place. My music shows: https://www.mixcloud.com/james-cooke9/

If in doubt, put Debbie Harry on the cover of Smash Hits (31 May - 13 Jun 1979) Got Voulez Vous, The Undertones & Do It Yourself & heard Lodger. After deductions for live and can't find that leaves Crown Heights Affair, Amii Stewart & Golden Earring #smashhitsalbumreviews
My takeaway bit of knowledge from the quiz tonight is that 'Globophobia' is the fear of balloons. Anyone here?...
If you want something to put you through the emotional wringer then this is the documentary for you. A real life story that trawls the absolute depths of humanity. No justice has been served either. 🤦‍♂️ #themotherofallcons
From 1998 Viz. Perhaps Terry Fuckwitt should be held up as some sort of soothsayer.
Freddie 'Fingers' Lee - Freddie 'Fingers' Lee. May 79. No UK Chart Placing. 'Stop laughing at the back, Jenkins!' real name Frederick Cheeseman. A fine voice & an excellent pianist that just happened to be in the wrong location not to be a bone fide star 6/10 #smashhitsalbumreviews
Simple Minds - Life In A Day. May 79. UK Peak: 30. An almost unrecognisable 'Minds both vocally & musically. Probably needs a few listens but really enjoyed the title track. New wave imaginative rock indeed. 6.5/10 #smashhitsalbumreviews
The Fall - Live At The Witch Trials. May 79 No UK Chart Placing. Don't think I'll ever be one of those people who 'get' The Fall but prepared to give them a shot. Opens with the very good 'Frightened' which feels like it belongs on an indie movie soundtrack. Quirky 6/10 #smashhitsalbumreviews
Doll By Doll - Remember. May 79. No UK Chart Placing. Fair review. I got hints of Hendrix & Pink Floyd at times with this inventive guitar pop. As it went on, I lost my enthusiasm for it but might be a grower. 6.5/10 #smashhitsalbumreviews
The Tubes - Remote Control. Jun 79. UK Peak: 40. Punk is put away in the drawer although final track 'Telecide' has some of the spirit but with electro proggy elements. A bit early XTC, a bit yacht rock. Unusual 6/10 #smashhitsalbumreviews
