This man’s direct line from Quatermass 2 and Thunderbirds to Alien and Empire Strikes Back is the coolest shit in the world. Special effects are so monumentally important, trailblazing in every new trick they try, in ways still undermined and under-appreciated by even the most passionate movie buff.

Some extremely sad news today folks. Multi OSCAR and award winning VFX legend, Brian Johnson has died. Stingray, Thunderbirds, 2001, Alien, Star Wars and so much more. I met him quite a few times, shared a show table and dinner once or twice. An absolute influence to many. RIP Brian. So long.
