And just for fun, a few close-ups of cases and interactives.
Some extra-wide, professional photos of Reptiles Alive taken by Michelle Kuo. This exhibit had a comparatively modest budget and was largely made by remixing things we already had, but I'm really proud of how it came out.
More Moropus content, today at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology
back in the day, they'd just make a movie where a guy got swallowed by a freaky, psychotic whale. now they gotta add in a whole giant squid to contrive a reason for why the whale would eat him.
Final session completed - and here she is!
Amazing work putting my ideas into ink, by Caitlin at Evoke Tattoos. Inspiration from Ville Sinkkonen, Jingmai O'Connor, the Field Museum - and the Urvogel herself: the Chicago Archaeopteryx.
Went to the unveiling of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History's new palaeo exhibits this evening with @gizz47.bsky.social. Excellent new displays of British dinosaur material, well worth checking out even if you've visited umpteen times before.
It was so cool to tour the Thornton Quarry on Saturday, riding a school bus down into this gigantic hole in the ground. The Thornton Historical Society does these tours twice a year, with a long waitlist for tickets. (I waited two years to get mine!) www.thorntonilhistory.com/thornton-qua...
Occasionally the most boring option is a good choice. New Halo trailer looks sick.
My love of dinosaurs runs deep. It's ancient. Primordial, even.
On Friday I took my *luckiest* and *most disgusting* wildlife shot so far: a California sea lion (Z. californianus) puking up a bunch of rocks! 🤮🪨 That's right - many pinnipeds use gastroliths. The gastroliths are in mid-air! 🦖🐬🦑 #nature #photography #sealion
