Tonight, I’m thinking about symbolism, how our society’s public rituals reveal our values. So what does it mean when a “cage fight” becomes part of a national celebration on the WH lawn (in a sea of corporate logos)? My heart goes out to parents trying to make sense of it with their children. Sad.
Even when someone I have helped

“Imagine you’re on a beach watching the sunset. You’re content. Happy even. Then a thought appears: wow, this could be the last sunset I ever see. Any day this precious human life could be gone. Poof. When I remember that, my excuses for not meditating start to feel very thin.”
This.
Friends, I’ve worked in emerging technologies for a few decades. AI doesn’t worry me nearly as much as surveillance capitalism—the business model built on collecting, tracking, and monetizing our personal data.

4 shades of blue in Antarctica by David Burdeny
"The image captures different natural blue tones created by Antarctic ice, ocean water, shadows, and reflected light. Glacier ice absorbs most colors in sunlight except blue, creating multiple shades across the frozen landscape." by Nature is Amazing
Authorship compounds. At first, you think you are just posting notes. Then you realize you are building an archive of sentences, concepts, fieldnotes, and future papers. The feed becomes a writing system.
