Great thread, I love the varied source material. As an ashamed monoglot, translation has always fascinated me especially when texts are subjected to scrutiny in the process of literary scholarship, or indeed religious worship.

Those agendas and biases can be anything!
Case in point: you think the fruit in the garden of eden was an apple because a guy translating the story into Latin wanted to make a pun.

Alarming amount of folks apparently don’t seem to know that translation is a political act because translators are people, and people have biases.
