Amazing first day yesterday in the field in Sao Paulo state for our @britishecologicalsociety.org funded working group on forest restoration! First, Pedro Brancalion led us on a tour of the nursery of re.green, which produces >2 million seedlings of >100 species per year for forest restoration (!)
Great discussions yesterday at #EARSeL2026 on bridging the gap between 1D and 3D vegetation modelling. I presented SILVO, a lightweight 3D illumination model designed to explicitly represent canopy heterogeneity. Thanks to everyone for the insightful feedback. 🌳🛰️ @iascsic.bsky.social @uco.es
1st chilly 🥶 day of fieldwork for the biogeographic #befscale fucoid resilience project. Bit short on fucoids even in our control plots 😬 Electric Blue envloggers are a go for hourly 🌡️ data. Lodonnec tomorrow! Good luck @rubygeorge.bsky.social with your last batch of PhD data 📉 💪🏻
I’m really excited about this paper, which links #seaweed species’ nitrate uptake & photosynthesis rates w/ functional #traits, providing a predictive framework for understanding roles in nutrient cycling & productivity. 🌊🦑🧪📏🌐 @jngriffy.bsky.social @intertidaleco.bsky.social @mle425.bsky.social
Temporal shifts in kelp forest structure and distribution largely reflect recent ocean warming trends vist.ly/55kj2 #KelpForests #OceanWarming #SpeciesDistribution
There was a time, not long ago, when peaceful protestors were never sent to jail in the UK
But at least 286 people have been locked up for protesting climate breakdown and genocide in recent years
It's a fucking scandal
So far, 47 participants from 25 countries signed up to take part in our global bioturbation experiment across freshwater, terrestrial and marine ecosystems. No prior experience needed and we’ll send you a bioturbation kit - to join in, sign up here: www.thermalecologyalliance.org/projects
