Ever wondered what hoverfly sperm look like? πͺ°π‘β¦ Well, me neither!
But as you might imagine, they are really tiny: around 15 microns. π¬ Thatβs approximately 100 times smaller than a 1mm measurement youβd find on a ruler. π

Excited to share my latest @sbohvm.gla.ac.uk PhD research with @strandings.bsky.social which used machine learning to reveal patterns in harbour porpoise pathology, showing how necropsy data can provide population level insights into cetacean health

π’ New paper out!
Cetacean strandings in Scotland have risen 125% over the past 30 years. Our study gives the first comprehensive picture of when, where, and which species strand, providing a baseline to guide conservation.
