Someone on JP twitter noticed that both VRCLens and default VRC camera have this sharp cutout effect on focused avatar edges, if you look real close
The latest #VRCLens Add-ons has a mod to soften those edges so it looks a little more natural, less green-screeny

Sounds like a great idea. Here is a great solution for those who don't know blender well and want an all unity method to optimizing your heavy avatars from my findings so far.
Here are some examples of my Miltina and Eno3D. Both known for high poly avatars.
Meshia is peak for optimizing. You say what you want your polycount to be and you drag a slider for the different parts, and it gives you a live preview of what the mesh will look like so it's not a surprise later
