Abortions in Hungary fell by one-fifth in Jan–Apr 2026. Abortions per 100 live births also dropped markedly, meaning a smaller share of pregnancies ended in induced abortion. But this coincided with a sharp decline in fertility and births, pointing to fewer pregnancies overall—not more babies.
