β MYTH: It's obvious when someone is thinking about suicide.
βοΈFACT: Some people show many signs. Some show very few. Everyone behaves differently.
If you're worried, the best thing you can do is ask directly. It could save a life. π

This.
It is virtually impossible to explain to a younger generation how different my 70s childhood was. Not even VHS or Ceefax. No 24 hour TV. No breakfast TV. Telephone was cheaper after 6pm so not allowed to use before then & it was connected to the hall wall.

β MYTH: βTheyβre just attention-seeking.β
βοΈ FACT: Suicide behaviours are often ways to cope with unbearable pain or to ask for help when words fail.
Dismissing this as attention-seeking adds shame.
The response matters.
It can shape whether someone seeks help or not π

End of term is looming and the exhaustion is real especially if youβre teaching the loooong term in Scotland.
Take time to switch off and relax. Get outside. Hug your loved ones. Maybe even take a nap. It will prevent your health crashing when you stop for the holidays.

There is *so* much learning taking out children out on walks in nature every afternoon. If you have the opportunity I can't recommend it highly enough. We brought our daily walk in after covid and it's been transformational. Such a calm, wholesome way to help children learn and develop. #EduSky
