These images get at the problem for me. Tacky? Sure, but so is that red carpet, which precedes Trump. Tacky I can abide. What's grotesque here is the gleeful sadism, the brutality, the misogyny, the monarchism, the cult of personality, the corruption, the cruel, loveless gaze.
