Chris Cornell was raised in Seattle, and worked at a restaurant in Ballard. He progressed from dishwasher to sous-chef, and would regularly belt out songs he was writing in the kitchen as he worked. The sonic quality of his voice even carried out into the dining room during the busiest shifts.
