I'm deeply uninterested in any question about why authors are making less money that doesn't start by asking, "so how much money are publishers making?"
they're charging libraries through the nose for those ebooks, after all. if anyone was worried about authors we'd get 50% net minimum on that
When these people insist the mere presence of people unlike them is an attack on them, their country, or their rights, this is exactly the outcome they are seeking, and disappointment among far right Trumpists is largely that he failed to produce events like this here. www.yahoo.com/news/us/arti...
The use of social media in planning violent protests over the Belfast knife attack has drawn condemnation, with Britain's ruling Labour Party accusing Elon Musk of stoking divisions. The tech billiona...
You all-- I never thought I'd see the day, but library peeps, strap in for a fight. The Author's Guild is going after us as the reason why authors are making less money. I don't think they understand who they are dealing with: www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

like, we live in THIS society and you decide to blame people for not buying a book EVERY MONTH??? we live in THIS SOCIETY and you blame LIBRARIES for people not buying more books??? go read one singular library study. possibly even this one from 2022, idk, it's fun www.ala.org/news/2019/12...
Yeah?
LRT: is the Author’s Guild similar to IGDA for games where it never seems to acknowledge that the publisher is the problem and gets in the way of unions, etc?
sometimes I get crabby when people post that libraries are good because they buy lots of books, because I feel that it can diminish everything else libraries do (a lot) but nope, guess you gotta point out the book buying or else you get publishers and groups like this being total assholes
I get really defensive about libraries but it's because you could never start the concept of a library today, at least in the US, and the entire Republican party has been trying to kill them through defunding and book bans

If the BDS boycott is about justice for people living under oppression, a trivial benefit for gaming could be stopping Microsoft living rent-free in our brains.
