Exactly this. The right — and the “centrist” — narrative is that woke pronoun people evilly colonized science which now must be rescued. In reality it was science people who wanted to occasionally have pronouns and then the right was like “oh well in that case we don’t want your cancer research”

information security is not exactly a bastion of woke ideology. at some point there will need to be a really careful dissection of how stuff like this and funding cancer research got tossed aside like they come with a side of pronouns
