In many Chinese temples, one of the Four Heavenly Kings holds a pipa with no strings. He is Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the Eastern Heavenly King, guardian of music and protector of the realm. His silent lute carries a lesson deeper than sound: harmony depends on balance. 1/2 #mythology
