[June 23rd, 1926] The first Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) was administered to 8,040 candidates. Originally drafted by a committee of psychologists led by Carl Campbell Brigham, the inaugural exam was designed to test inherent aptitude rather than specific academic knowledge.
