A modern wind turbine offsets its entire lifecycle CO₂ footprint in 5–12 months. Financial payback is often around 6–12 years onshore & 10–15 years offshore, with operating lives of 20–30+ years. For wind, the carbon mortgage is usually measured in months. The carbon savings are measured in decades.
