I’m always baffled how hard a sell it is to advocate for inclusion *and* specialist provision. It seems obvious that most disabled kids should be able to be in mainstream education but those who need special schools should have them. But then much of progressive politics is arguing for the obvious…
7 years ago today, CRIPPLED was published. This morning, a lecturer emailed me to say a student had written their dissertation inspired by it. I’m continually blown away by the impact this book has had and so grateful for how readers have responded - and are still discovering it.
Anthony Head! What a horrible headline to pop up on a Friday evening. He will always be Giles to millennial women everywhere.
