One time I got an unwanted criticism that was "The format is hard to read, try to format better, also the dialogue could do with a touch up" and is my best example to why you shouldnt give unwanted critics 🧵 #Ao3 #Fanfic +
"The dialogue could do with a touch up" ok, what would be the touch up? What does that fucking means. All this critic did was sour my mood. I didnt change anything on my writting bcs neither I understood what I had to change, nor I wanted to change anything on the fic, I loved how it turned out.
It pointed what I did "wrong" (and barely) but offered no solution or explanaition. It was also pretty annoying bcs I couldnt even tell what the "wrong format" was. If I have to *guess* whats wrong, how can I know I am fixing it instead of just changing something else? +
