The Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women is withholding $150 million meant to help survivors of domestic violence. Gender-based violence service organizations across the country report radio silence on the status of applications, some submitted over a year ago.
The 19th reached out to over 250 domestic violence shelters, organizations and municipalities that have received federal grants in the past to determine the impact of withheld funds.
