Claire was also recently on the Betwixt the Sheets podcast to discuss how Brontë came to write Wuthering Heights. How did the Brontê sisters write about sex and sexuality in their work? And how accurate is the new film to the original story?!
Congratulations to our own Joan Fitzpatrick, now Joan Fitzpatrick, FRHistS! Joan has been elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in recognition of her contribution to historical scholarship:
Our own Andrew Dix has (with one of our former Doctoral Researchers, Pete Templeton) published the 5th edition of American Cultural Studies (Routledge). There is a companion website featuring a timeline of American history, electronic resources, suggested research topics and

In light of the new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, our own @drclaireocall.bsky.social writes for @uk.theconversation.com about how Emily Brontë’s gothic poetry helped shape her powerful novel.
It was a pleasure and a privilege to be in conversation with my amazing colleague and dear friend Jade French about our books - and to share it with Feminist Modernist Studies. If you're interested in women's writing, periodisation, ageing and thinking across generations, check out our little chat.
We're pleased to share that Loughborough University will soon offer undergraduate study in English and History, co-taught between IRPH and our friends at @lboroenglish.bsky.social.

This new edition not only brings the novel up to date - incorporating a great deal of new knowledge about Anne and her book from recent years - but also includes references to newly identified archival items that bring fresh significance to certain textual details. 🎉
Last year, I wrote some poetry responding to Libita Sibungu’s “Deep Recovery”. This has now been displayed alongside two visual art pieces in Pilkington library.

I’m thrilled to have finally sent off the manuscript for a new edition of Agnes Grey that I’ve produced for @oxunipress. Working with Anne’s novel has been utterly joyful - she is such a smart writer and woe betide those who underestimate the power of Agnes Grey.
Dr Joan Fitzpatrick has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (RHS) in recognition of her eminent contribution to historical scholarship.
