Sustain Saint Paul
Saint Paul shouldn't need another tragedy. Small, well-connected groups don't get to continue to veto the future of our capital city. Prioritize an accessible and equitable pedestrian & bicycle experience.
Let Saint Paul stand with global peers in its commitment to being a city for people.
The drivers in both cases stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police say.
This week, an 80-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while crossing West 7th St, a critical street in desperate need of basic repairs and safety improvements that have been delayed for years.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and neighbors of Tesfai M. Fekak, and we hope to see West 7th repaired and improved such that there is never another preventable tragedy like this one.
"It’s really hard to cross West 7th and your world shrinks unless you’re willing to take your life into your hands to cross the street... We’ve known for a long time that (it's) really dangerous and substandard for anyone using it besides cars.” West 7th/Fort Road Federation president Meg Duhr.
