it shouldn't be this way, but alas... social media for artists has gotten so big that artwork is seen as "content" to look at once and then move on. its so sad.

i feel very bad for people who feel like they're stuck drawing or "making content" specifically for canon characters, that shit really causes burnout 😭
like, i've been there, especially getting into the 7k+ follower ratio back on (former) twitter... everybody got opinions, everybody scrutinizes, people get parasocial... the only times i've ever gotten genuine comments was on my oc art. fanart is simply something to consume and not appreciate
