New is JB: A huge thanks to all the ad hoc reviewers who helped us evaluate the papers published in JB. We thank them every year - in 2025 we had 518 such reviewers who reviewed at least once between 1 January and 31 December 2025 journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/... @asm.org #JBacteriol

Pls share: The Grognot Lab (RWTH Aachen, Germany) is offering a PhD position with flexible start date before end of 2026.
Excited to be part of a collaboration with the Bharat lab - Shawna Pratt in my team contributed to showing that disrupting the pahge Pf4-mediated liquid crystalline droplets makes P. aeruginosa more susceptible to Abx - this disruption can be driven by nanobodies. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42247470/
We’re grateful for Representative Thomas Moakley of Falmouth who successfully secured an amendment providing $200,000 for the Marine Biological Laboratory as part of the “Fair Share” amendment under the FY26 supplemental budget. Read more about it here: go.mbl.edu/esv0te
New in JB: Arroyo-Mendoza, Hinton et al. review the role of adherent-invasive Escherichia coli in Crohn’s disease using genomic-based approaches. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/... @asm.org #JBacteriol

Excited to share our newest paper (a JB Editor's Pick) - in a study led by former PhD student Kaitlyn Barrack, we present compelling data (clinical, in vitro, metagenomic) for mechanisms driving the gut dysbiosis in kids with CF. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/... @asm.org #JBacteriol
New in JB: Große, Nies et al. show that lab growth of deletion mutants of C. metallidurans, a metal resistant organism, results in secondary mutations, indicating unexpected selection in vitro & recommend full genome sequencing of all mutants. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/... @asm.org #JBacteriol

Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) secreted by Bacteroides can be an important mechanism of host-pathogen interactions in the colon by reducing CFTR Cl⁻ secretion; the effects on CFTR Cl⁻ secretion depend on the strain of Bacteroides fragilis. #IAIJournal: asm.social/2Y7
