🚨NEW w/ 97% of votes counted the AP has now widened Raman’s lead over Pratt to 3.5 percentage points and more than 29K votes.
What do 2 well-placed D and R sources in LA politics have in common? The same analysis of Pratt’s cryptic post: the duck is furiously pedaling below the water, despite seeming calm on the surface 👀🦆
“I don’t think Nancy Mace has ever seen a bridge in her life that she hasn’t burned down,” said Will Hampson, one of her former communications directors.
Nancy Mace won’t proceed to the Republican gubernatorial runoff, the AP projects. That means - for now - her political career ends when she leaves Congress next year.
🚨 A spox for Nithya Raman’s campaign tells me they haven’t received a concession or any communication from Pratt even tho the AP called last night she would be proceeding to the Nov. runoff against Karen Bass 👀
And it’s Becerra v Hilton for CA Gov in Nov: www.ms.now/news/steve-h...
Meanwhile it’s unclear if Pratt has actually conceded the race. His only public statement since last night’s AP call appears to be this image of a duck in front of a sunset he posted on X less than 2 hours ago. 🤔
“Mace had real political talent & promise, but her downfall & isolation followed years of brazen political opportunism, a hunger for media attention at any cost, rejecting advisers’ counsel & turning on many allies, > than a dozen former aides, colleagues & supporters in both SC & Washington said”
The AP called the 2nd place slot for Raman last night, meaning she will officially proceed to the Nov. runoff against Karen Bass. As of last night Raman had a ~20K vote lead over Pratt. www.ms.now/news/nithya-...
Tonight could mark the end of Nancy Mace’s political career, if she doesn’t make the runoff in the SC gubernatorial primary 👀 TBT to when she launched a fake hotline for victims, as I covered for @motherjones.com
