I knew it, I knew that would be a good duet. But it does prove that Newman's voice is still plenty good, so the decision not to give him a song was almost certainly an Oscar play for Taylor. Which is fine. He doesn't need another one and now she'll just be one Tony away from an EGOT.

Randy Newman's still doing the score so it's possible he doesn't get a song because his voice isn't good enough for Disney anymore but it's also likely that Taylor insisted on having the only song so they don't split the Oscar vote. I wouldn't have minded if they'd done a duet though!
