Congrats to PhD student Daniela Rojas-Cañizales, who won the Archie Carr Student Award for best conservation poster!
Next week is World Sea Turtle Week, and the ACCSTR will be celebrating the birthday of Archie Carr with a local event. If you are in Gainesville, join us for Science on Tap with engaging talks about sea turtles at Cypress & Grove on June 17th from 6:30-8:00pm.

New pub: This is a first look at whether sea turtles undergo age-related declines in the number of eggs they lay. Surprisingly, sea turtles can maintain their high reproductive output well into old age. However, the chances of dying do not follow a similar trend, with mortality increasing with age.

Congratulations to ACCSTR graduate student Jazmyn Broxton for successfully defending and presenting her master’s thesis on sea turtle nest success after beach nourishment.
ACCSTR student @ecologistash.bsky.social presented yesterday on the coprophagous relationship between remoras and green turtles. #ISTS2026
Additional presentations by ACCSTR PhD students Chris Nolte on leatherback demographic ecology and stable isotope patterns plus George Glen on sea turtle aging and life history theory.
ACCSTR student (Renato Bruno) and former postdoc (Marco Garcia Cruz) delivered presentations at #ISTS2026 yesterday. See alt text for their titles.

Ariadna Arnau successfully deployed three satellite transmitters on loggerheads at Wassaw Island, Georgia last week. Stay tuned for updates. We are particularly interested in their internesting habitat use and indicators of feeding status.

Aging dynamics in captive sea turtles reflect conserved life-history patterns across the testudine phylogeny - Communications Biology
Decades of captive green sea turtle data reveals no evidence of reproductive senescence despite mortality rates increasing with age. These results contextualize age-specific changes in the life histor...
