Collegiate splatoon circumvents this! Players can come and go but the schools will remain. As collegiate teams have gotten stronger and stronger over the years it’s easy to see a future where it starts drawing viewership akin to high level.
The regional aspect also makes it easy to pick a team!

Main issues I see is that there isn't a team without its players in this game. A sports team or esports brand replaces its whole roster and yet the same team exist. In this game you can increase e.g. "Moonlight" brand but it doesn't have similar lasting impact.
