once upon a time on the bad site i said something like if you can't find any good fic its because you don't have friends and boy the whiny brats didn't like that. its still fucking true though. fandom is community not capitalism. you have to feed it if you want it to grow.
we aren't in a "fanfic recession" but that someone decided to use these terms to complain reveals the real problem; a lot of 'fans' are thinking like shareholders and executives, devaluing creative work, refusing to support the artists they have, and looking at everything with the lens of profit
