I am normally very proud of my home, Waltham Forest. But this? I'm deeply ashamed by the "neglect & lies" that led here. Huge kudos to @londonermag.bsky.social & @andrewkersley.bsky.social for a harrowing, but vital must-read. Heartened by those who tried to help, crushed by too many that didn't...

Anti-cycling campaigners like Stops & Stewart are amplified because an industry of politicians, journalists & driving foghorns love their 'of course I want more cycling just not here, like this, now' schtick. It is anti-cycling culture war grift wrapped up in mock concern. Plenty of it around...
PS There are holes in the data I expect TfL will plug with time. Right now we simply do not know whether the many new to cycling dockless riders are having issues or gig economy riders or if it's just overloaded infrastructure causing people to use less safe routes or something else. We do not know.
Crying. I was 3 when the Knicks last won an NBA championship. Big love from London to NY right now...
Do TfL, Mayor @london.gov.uk, @willnorman.co.uk & others need to do more, be bolder on road danger reduction, cycling? Obviously. And they say so themselves. Stops & Stewart don't want more safety. They want less cycling. Particularly less cycling infrastructure that they predate basically...
I'm curious, even a bit optimistic about AI. But I can tell you one thing that puts me off its rise: uncool techbro triumphalism. Hey, let's get a naff mainstream star on stage next to your CEO as if you're Microsoft Xbox in 2002. Ties round your head are cool! No, they are. Let's drop a buzzword!
Released 40 years ago today. Still the greatest day off.
Both the government and the Court of Appeal now treat protesters as terrorists and terrorists as protesters. It's hard to accept that a "Labour" government is imposing rightwing authoritarianism on the UK, but please read this column to see what's happening.+🧵

The right is obsessed with ‘two-tier policing’. This is indeed a two-tier government – but the real victims are progressives, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
Sad to see anti-cycling campaigners Vincent Stops & John Stewart accusing us of some sort of cover up.
We've been clear. Falling cycle deaths is good news, but rising numbers of serious injuries shows we've much more to do. Hence our new Vision Zero plan - inc more bike lanes.

The contrast between the care taken over the writing of this article, the evidence of its sustained pursuit of the truth, & the neglect & lies of social services & the council that it reveals, is in itself staggering, beyond the desperate sadness of the story it tells.
