If it’s helpful to be detailed, be detailed. If it’s helpful to be brief, summarize an event. Link/insert relevant screenshots and writing. Put it together as if it was going to be a PowerPoint or Google Slides deck. Or just make a slide deck for fun. There are so many ways to organize lore!!
I have at least two AUs, a modern monster setting guide, and a made-up xaela tribe’s lore all in bulleted list and/or slide deck format. It just works for me!
I forgot to mention it sooner but I made it, one plane and one car rental later. 🎉
Second flight delayed due to plane maintenance. Lmfao. I might be taking a rental car the rest of the way bc I can gat there sooner than the original landing time at this point and it’s only a two hour drive.
Most of my characters’ main verse lore exists in RP logs and drabbles or FFXIV Write entries that I can re-read or search keywords in, so not a whole lot of structure there. AUs and other kinds of original content? Whole other story. +
Since OP is/was looking for inspiration, though: there are lots of tools out there to help people pin down basics. Things like character sheets, dossiers, etc. To organize their lore (which I might be misinterpreting as “story”), try just makin some bullets from their earliest memories to now.
I am a bulleted list bitch for better or worse. I throw unorganized ideas into a list and then I start expanding and reordering then from there. Plot summaries in bullets. Original setting details in collapsible paragraphs (a bullet by another name, I argue). Header hierarchy is a wonderful thing!!!
