Join us on June 17th for an important and timely conversation hosted by World Jewish Relief USA in advance of World Refugee Day. We'll explore how refugees move beyond immediate safety toward dignity, employment, and the rebuilding of their lives: https://bit.ly/4xhS6FX
The lesson of the M.S. St. Louis is clear: when we deny safety and support to those seeking refuge, people die. When our government slams the doors shut on today’s refugees, when our leaders instill fear within the inhabitants of this land, we have just two words: Never Again.
"Today's victory is another example of why impact litigation matters, and why HIAS and our partners have filed repeated legal challenges to the Trump administration's assault on immigrants and refugees," shares CEO & President Beth Oppenheim.

We will always stand with displaced queer and trans people 🏳️‍🌈 In a moment filled with darkness and uncertainty, Pride month celebrates joy as resistance. That's why we continue to work towards a world where ALL people are welcome and free to be exactly who they are.
Thank you @padilla.senate.gov @durbin.senate.gov for highlighting the midyear consultations to change refugee admissions was in violation of the law. We agree that the admin's decision is "a betrayal of our longstanding bipartisan commitment to serve as a safe haven for those fleeing persecution."
BREAKING: Congress just voted to provide $70+ billion in additional funding for ICE & CBP. “This will infuse billions more into a rotten immigration enforcement system, with no checks and no balances," said Naomi Steinberg, HIAS VP of U.S. Policy & Advocacy. Read our full statement:
Now is the time to show leadership by implementing these new laws in a way that ensures the safety and dignity of asylum seekers. Swipe to learn more about the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum → https://hias.org/news/eu-pact-migration-and-asylum-explained/
Thank you @reptimkennedy.bsky.social for demanding accountability from Sec. Mullin on the tragic and completely preventable death of Nurul Amin, who was a client of our partner JFS Buffalo. This is yet another example of the extreme cruelty of immigrant enforcement in the U.S.
For thousands, crossing through the Darien Gap was supposed to be a journey towards safety. Now, many face an even more dangerous fate: retracing their steps back. Men like Salem and Nerli continue traveling with the hope of providing a better future for themselves and the people they love.
