Last year, I gave a talk at the Cleveland Museum of Art—and also saw this majestic funerary portrait from Hawara, Roman Egypt, c. 25–37 CE. The gold lips were likely to “transform the spirit” for the afterlife. www.clevelandart.org/art/1971.137 (NB: CMA images are Public Domain but these are mine).
